Quiet Weekend

If you would discount the excitement of the World Cup matches, it has been a rather uneventful weekend for me (blame it on the matches, if you must).

The only trips I made were a quick food resupply run to Angel on Saturday noon (made it back just in time for the start of the Portugal-Iran game) & another trip to CBS that evening to watch the Czech Republic Ghana game via the plasma TV at the café as the match was telecast over ITV, hence no video webcast over BBC. The evening trip wasnt all that fruitful as CBS still closed at 1800 & I was unable to enjoy the 2nd half of the match where Ghana made an upset by beating the Czechs 2-0,

A friend did ask whether I'd be interested to go & watch X-Men 3 (I havent seen it yet) at the cinema Saturday evening. I wasn't keen to go as I preferred to listen to the Italy-USA game via BBC Radio 5 Live, but since he planned to ask some others too, I said Id tag along if he got the crowd. The movie outing didnt materialize in the end as the others whom my friend called couldn't go along for 1 reason or another.

I finally bought a replacement for my Sony Ericsson handsfree as the one that came with the cellphone appears to already be living on borrowed time. I bought it at a stall from Angels street market, where the seller swears that its from an original cellphone set despite him selling at only 35% of the handsfrees retail price. Oh well, original or compatible handsfree, at that price, beggar cant be picky. So far, I only noticed the color is of a slightly lighter shade of grey & the plastic wires of the new handsfree are softer than my now retired one. Sound quality appears good although Ive yet to engage in a phone conversation using the replacement handsfree.

On a more trivial note, I ate my 1st bagel last Tuesday (a reduced priced ready packed raisin & cinnamon bagel with soft cheese filling from Waitrose) & bought some more loose bagels at Sainsburys during resupply run. These things look like oversized donuts with a hard exterior. Surprisingly, its actually soft in the inside. RLS explained that bagels are actually like that hard exterior with soft interior. Hmm, I shall add bagels as another quick meal option, which is quite handy especially these days when I am somewhat rather lazy to be consistently cooking dishes to eat with rice,

Till later, live long & prosper.
